Powderhorn's Ski and Ride School is designed to help you learn in a fun, safe environment. We offer group classes and private lessons for ages 8 to adult and for all abilities.

Please plan to arrive one hour early.

Group Lessons

2 Hour: $62.00
4 Hour: $82.00
Lessons run from 10:30-12:30 and 1:30-3:30 daily
First Chance Lessons: Available weekends and holidays ONLY.
9:30-11:30am with option for a full day.

 

Private Lessons

1 Hour: $85.00
Addtional Hour: $60.00
Private Lesson Ticket: $28.00

 

Family Private Lessons

Minimum of 2 people and up to 5, any age combination
Per person for the 1st hour: $60.00
Per person/per hour after 1st hour : $30.00
Lift tickets per person: $28.00

Use the following to determine your level.

 

SKI SCHOOL LEVEL DESCRIPTIONS

Level 1

  • First time on skis.

Level 2

  • You ski in a cautious wedge stance on easy terrain.

Level 3

  • You can make a round wedge turn on easy terrain.

Level 4

  • You can make a round wedge turn with your skis matching at the finish of a turn.

Level 5

  • Your skis are parallel most of the time on easy intermediate terrain.

Level 6

  • Your skis are parallel throughout the turn with a pole touch. You ski intermediate terrain comfortably.

Level 7

  • Your skis are parallel throughout the turn and you are comfortable in small bumps.

Level 8

  • You ski parallel on steeper terrain and feel comfortable in moguls on intermediate to advanced runs.

Level 9

  • You ski aggressively on all types of terrain and want to master a variety of skiing situations on advanced runs.

 

 

SNOWBOARDING LEVELS

Introduction to Snowboarding

  1. First time ever on a snowboard.

Beginning Snowboarding

  1. Snowboarder can perform a skidded traverse in both directions and stop.
  2. The rider is beginning direction changes and can perform skidded traverses and garlands in both directions with confidence.

Intermediate Snowboarding

  1. The rider can turn in both directions with speed control and is working towards linking turns and is beginning to exhibit vertical motion.
  2. The rider is linking skidded turns with good speed control and shape, and is seeking more challenging terrain. Rhythm is evident in the riding.

Advanced Snowboarding

  1. The rider is confident on most blue terrain under good conditions and is beginning to carve turns.
  2. The rider is comfortable on all intermediate terrain under good conditions. He or she is fine tuning carved turns and is seeking more challenging terrain, including bumps, as well as varying snow conditions.

Expert Snowboarding

  1. The rider is confident performing carved turns and is refining technique in all snow conditions and terrain.
  2. The snowboarder can ride the entire mountain with confidence and ease, enjoys non-stop runs, and is working on the fine points; efficiency, turn shape, exploring the extremes of riding.
