POWDERHORN MOUNTAIN RESORT GIVE BACK DAY
THIRTY LOCAL CHILDREN RECEIVE LEARN TO SKI SCHOLARSHIPS

MESA, Colo. (March 4, 2015) –  Powderhorn Mountain Resort (PMR) will provide scholarships for thirty local children to learn to ski on their first Powderhorn Give Back Day, Friday, March 6th.

PMR has teamed up with Rocky Mountain Health Foundation to receive tax deductible donations to provide scholarships for  lower income children from around the Grand Valley to learn to ski or snowboard in PMR’s Powderhorn Adventure Snowsports Training Program (PHAST). This is the first year of the scholarship program. PHAST Scholarship recipients have been selected from the We Can! Mesa County program and HopeWest Kids.

“We are so excited about this great opportunity to really get involved with the families of our community. We really have a passion for the mountains and outdoor recreation and we want to be able to share that with the children of the Grand Valley. We have a dream that every child will get to experience the opportunity to try skiing or snowboarding, and today marks the first step towards accomplishing that vision. It is so hard to not fall in love with the mountains, once you’ve experienced them, and that’s what we hope to give these kids- a love of outdoor recreation, the mountains, their communities and more,” said Dusti Reimer, marketing manager for the resort.

The PHAST program entails a full-day ski or snowboard lesson, lift ticket and rental equipment. Helmets for the PHAST program have been sponsored by St. Mary’s Hospital and Rocky Mountain Orthopaedic Associates.

The PHAST program is widely used by the Western Slope school districts, for being an affordable program for youth to ski or snowboard. The program is open to all schools and groups with ten or more students.

If you are interested in sponsoring a PHAST child, you can send in your tax deductible donation to: Rocky Mountain Health Foundation Donations, Project Code: Powderhorn, P.O. BOX 10600, Grand Junction, CO 81502. (Please denote on the check POWDERHORN, also.)

For more information regarding PMR’s PHAST program, please contact the Ski and Ride Center at 970.268.5700 ext. 2080, or visit our website at www.powderhorn.com/.
