POWDERHORN MOUNTAIN RESORT TO HOST THE MEMORIAL
TRIPLE PLAY RACE, AKA PH3, BIKE, SKIN, AND SKI.
One Event, One Day, Three Stages, A Great Cause, The PH3.


POWDERHORN MOUNTAIN RESORT, MESA, Colo. – February 26, 2013 – Powderhorn introduces a new and exciting event for outdoor enthusiast of the valley and surrounding area. The Powderhorn Triple Play, AKA the PH3, is a three stage memorial race in celebration of the life of Tim Sewell, which includes biking from the Mesa community center to Powderhorn Mountain Resort, skinning or snowshoeing up the hill and skiing or snowboarding down.  Anyone has the opportunity to participate either as an individual or on teams.  Early registration is available through the Ski and Ride Center for $40.Walk in registration on the day of the event is also available at the Mesa Community Center for $50.  In honor of the life of Tim Sewell and in support of his family, Powderhorn will be donating a portion of the proceeds to the Colorado Mesa Cycling Team, the Powderhorn Race Club, the local Suicide Prevention Clinic, and the VA Medical Center, Suicide Prevention Fund.
 
Event Schedule (subject to change, as weather permits):
March 16, 2013: The Powderhorn Triple Play or PH3(80’s Weekend, costumes encouraged, and awarded)
8 a.m. – 9:45 a.m.     $50 registration and sign up Mesa Community Center
10 a.m.                     Race Starts
3 p.m.                       PH3 Awards on the Sunset Deck
3:30 p.m.                   David Padill, DJ

About Colorado Mesa Cycling Team
The CMU Cycling team is currently the #1 ranked Division II collegiate team in the United States.  The team is committed to academics first and athletics second.  The long term goal for the CMU Team is to be the global prototype for how a collegiate team should be run.  While most of the athletes have a desire to race at a professional level, they realize the importance of an education for their long term well-being.

About the local Suicide Prevention Foundation       
Founded in 2006, the Western Colorado Suicide Prevention Foundation (WCSPF) is committed to reducing the rate of suicide in the region by developing a variety of prevention approaches, training individuals and groups in suicide intervention, providing therapeutic services for needy at-risk children and youth, and increasing public awareness that suicide is preventable and depression is treatable. 

About the VA Medical Center Suicide Prevention Fund
The Grand Junction VA Medical Center’s Suicide Prevention Program covers 15 Colorado counties, two in Utah and one in Wyoming.  The Suicide Prevention Program provides direct support to “at risk” veterans, providing cell phones to ensure they can access a mental health service 24 hours a day.  Along with providing help the Prevention Program also provides education to those in isolated communities spreading the word on the National Veterans Crisis line and the assistance that is available through the GJVA.  “It is okay to ask for help; You are not alone.” Veterans Crisis Line: 1800-273-8255 Press 1
