POWDERHORN MOUNTAIN RESORT MUD DASH GOES GREEN

MESA, Colo. (June 18, 2014) – Powderhorn Mountain Resort (PMR) is using mostly all natural materials for the first ever Powderhorn Mud Dash, on June 28.

The Mud Dash consists of 4 one mile loops around an adventure course with 11 unique obstacles; Pig Wallow, Tied Up, Sloppy Joe, Stairway to Heaven, Welcome to the Jungle, Crocodile Crawl, Tunnel Rat, Great Wall of Powderhorn, Three Stooges, Monkey See Monkey Do and No Pain No Gain.

PMR utilized almost all natural on-mountain resources and materials for building and construction of the adventurous obstacle course including 100% pure Powderhorn Mud. “We used a lot of downed trees from the resort in helping to construct our obstacles. We made sure to test the logs before we used them for construction purposes, but by recycling these trees into the events, it really adds to the event. You get to enjoy what being outdoors and in nature is all about - conquering the power of the natural structures as well as admiring the beauty. We also teamed up with 84 Lumber in creation of some of the obstacles. We definitely try to recycle as much of the wood as we can for our resort. Even our picnic tables are made out of pine beetle killed trees,” said Dave Smith, Mountain Operations Manager.

The Powderhorn Mud Dash is still open for registration. Live music entertainment will be provided by The Living Wills. Starting at 8 pm, the first Mountain Man Movie Night kicks off with the movie Rango and an opening short film about rock climbing.

Parking is FREE for the events, but at 5pm, there will be a $2 charge, per person, for parking at PMR, on Saturday, June 28.

On Sunday, June 29, PMR is hosting The Gold’s Games by Gold’s Gym. This event consists of many physical events including a running hill climb, long jump, log carry, overhead tire toss, tire flip race, stone throw and a team tug-of-war.

PMR will continue its summer event calendar with dirt bike races, Bottles, Cans & Music Festival, Outdoor Festival and Fall Festivals. Each event weekend, the resort will also have scenic chair lift rides, bag jump, bungee trampoline and food and beverage options open to all. Their disc golf course is open daily and is free to play.
