At Powderhorn, our Ingredient for Adventure is the great outdoors and for this reason we're committed here to conserving resources indoors and out. Preserving our locals' favorite winter wonderland for generations of skiers and riders to come is the least we can do from a global perspective. And besides that, we LOVE it here. Every department at Powderhorn is run with our environment in mind, knowing that the smallest efforts really add up.

        In the Sunset Grille & Bar we serve our guests' food and drink in 100% compostable cups, napkins, and utensils. We also collect our garbage and recyclables in compostable trash liners. Our leftover fry oil is collected by a local who converts it to biofuel. Throughout the Base Lodge and the Inn at Wildewood, we are diligent in minimizing the use of heat and electricity.

Our terrain parks boast natural features constructed from aspen deadfall.

        Mountain Operations recycles the waste oil from all vehicles operated on the mountain. This includes snow cats, snowmobiles, trucks, and the official Powderhorn Subarus.

        New this season, Ski Patrol installed a solar panel at the West End Ski Patrol hut, which will be used to charge the two-way radio system. Before now, this particular hut did not have electricity and the battery for the radio was taken down the mountain every time it needed charged.

       Every department from Guest Services to Marketing, and The Ski & Ride Center to Lift Operations is dedicated to recycling. In 2010 we recycled 63 batteries, printer cartridges, and electronics as well as 3,862 lbs of cardboard, glass, paper, and aluminum.  Watch below to see how much we recycle in the remainder of the 2010-2011 season:
