Mountain Biking Grand Opening at Powderhorn Let's Locals Escape the Valley Heat 

Mesa, CO (August 2, 2007) Looking for a way to escape the heat this summer?  You do not have to go far!  Powderhorn Resort, located just outside of Grand Junction, CO just announced they are ready to open for their first season of mountain biking and hiking.

According to Steve Bailey, CEO of Powderhorn Resort, the new trails are just "Phase One", part of a long term plan to develop a much larger mountain bike trail system. Phase One consists of cross country trails that are 6 miles in length.  The primary designated use is for mountain biking, however, the trails are also open to hikers. The trails range from intermediate to advanced and have an elevation change of about 800'. Trail maps and conditions information is available at the trailhead. The trails are open seven days a week and free to the public. .

Powderhorn Resort is proud to be celebrating its 40th Anniversary during the 2006-2007 ski season. The ski area opened in 1966 on the northern slopes of Grand Mesa- the world's largest and highest flattop mountain with elevations up to 11,000 feet.
